Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Trilogy Joins Wii U Virtual Console this Week

Pokémon’s Virtual Console presence will grow exponentially when the first three Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games launch for the Wii U service in North America this Thursday.

Nintendo announced the news earlier today, revealing that the original DS & GBA titles – Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team & Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team – as well as their DS only sequel, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, will all be included with this week’s eShop update. Compared to the rest of the world, North America’s Wii U Virtual Console has seen a light amount of Pokémon content, with the only re-release so far being the 2003 Gameboy Advance title Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire.

Now that the Poké-floodgates are slowly opening on the digital side, Nintendo has promised that more Pokémon games are on the way, so keep a lookout for those when they launch on Virtual Console throughout the summer.

About the Author

Born in the murky depths of Lake Ontario and raised by the creatures that dwell within it, Dan Massi first emerged on land in the year 2000. At the time of his great emergence, a small child on shore mistook the handsome human-fish hybrid as a swamp monster, resulting in a dropped Gameboy and a scarred mind. After the boy ran off, never to return, a curious Dan picked up the device and began "gaming". He has not stopped since.
